Mr Waters is one of the few surgeons in the UK trained in the use of the NAVIO™ robotic-assisted knee surgery system.
Unlike other systems, there is no need for any additional scans or exposure to radiation prior to surgery. The knee is mapped during surgery using a probe that creates a 3D image of the knee. Trackers monitor the movement of the knee and this information is fed back to the Robots computer “brain”. An accurate picture of the knee’s normal function can then be simulated and reproduced by accurately sizing and positioning the artificial joint with robotic-assistance.
This is currently only available for total knee replacement surgery at Spire Bushey Hospital
